The assignment was to photograph a high school soccer athlete on a tight deadline. I arrived at the high school field just as the sun was setting low on the horizon. The ambient light was still bright, so I new I had to use the full-power of my small Profoto A1x strobe. Bella’s game was about to start. I set up my strobe, paired with a 2-foot gridded Profoto octabox, then made contact with the subject. I positioned Bella with the sun behind her. It gave just a kiss of rim light on her hair and shoulders. I fired off test shots, adjusting ISO, shutter speed and aperture until I had the right exposure. I needed to move the light closer to have enough strobe light to over power the ambient, which I underexposed about two-stops. White balance was set to auto on my Nikon Z6II camera. Camera settings: 1/250 of a second shutter at F/4.5 and ISO 100
